Activities and games FAQ

For older people activities can mean the difference between feeling lonely and bored or feeling positive and engaged. Do you have any questions about our elder games and activities services? See if they’re among our Frequently Asked Questions below.

If you can’t find the information you’re looking for, call us on 0303 3000 128 or email us and we’ll do our best to answer your questions about our Activities.

Can you arrange activities for old people to do?

We can help find things for older people to do, and we can suggest social activities for the people we assist, but we don’t tend to arrange activities on their behalf.

Are your activities for older men and activities for older women the same, or do they differ?

Our activities aren’t gendered — our SupportGivers participate in whatever activities older customers enjoy. The activities are decided by the older people themselves.

Do your SupportGivers come up with ideas for activities for older people?

Our SupportGivers are full of ideas for activities for the older people, and are more than happy to share these with clients!

Are there any activities for older people that your staff won’t take part in?

We cater to all sensible and reasonable requests, and can engage in creative activities for older people, therapeutic activities, and a range of light physical activities for the older people and disabled.

Do you provide the supplies for art activities for older people?

We don’t supply our own art activities for older people, but our SupportGivers can help clients pick out their own supplies when they go shopping!

My mother doesn’t have any hobbies. Do you help find leisure activities for older people?

Obviously, we can’t make somebody like something they don’t enjoy, but we can certainly help find new interests, hobbies, and fun activities for older people.

Can SupportGivers help with exercise for older people?

Although our SupportGivers aren’t qualified fitness instructors or physicians, they can help customers find relevant information about exercise for older adults. We can’t suggest exercises for the older people, but we can accompany customers to see their GP and help them to ask for fitness information. If our customers are interested in joining any physical activity groups, we can talk them through the choices available. We can also accompany customers on walks to the local park or nearby shops to help them keep active.

Will you do activities for people with disabilities?

At Age UK Norfolk, we specialise in support for older people – but we’re happy to engage in activities with people of all ages who need assistance. Find out more >>
